My Winter Skin Care Must Haves

Hey all you beautiful mommas out there!  Thank you for taking the time to stop by my little space on the internet!

Today I wanted to take a moment and talk about winter time skin care.  I, like many other ladies, get really itchy and dry, sensitive skin during the colder months.  I'm not the type of person that likes to slather on really fragrant lotions and creams because I have children, who also have sensitive skin, who will break out if they lay on my arm or cuddle with me. So around my house we like a lot of unscented lotions and such that do their job.

My children also suffer with dry skin and eczema so I always have to have safe things on hand to help them.

So here are some of our favorite winter, dry skin, lotions and products.

Curel Ultra Healing Lotion
First off, we love this Curel Ultra Healing lotion.  It says it is "intensive lotion for extra-dry skin" and "Helps heal and protect extra-dry skin for instant relief that lasts 24 hours."  This I find to be true...this is a great lotion that really does absorb into the skin nicely and quickly.  I hate those lotions and body butters where you put it on and have to wait for it to soak into your skin so that your clothes don't cling to it.  Um hello, it's cold, I want to be warm and cozy not cold waiting for my lotion to sink in.  So yes this does do a great job at healing our itchy and dry skin.  We slather this on after baths/showers and any time we start to feel dry or itchy.

Curel Hand & Cuticle Lotion
Second,  I also really love the accompanying hand cream from the Curel Ultra Healing line.  My hands are constantly in water it seems.  I wash all of our dishes by hand so between washing dishes and cleaning messes and dirty faces, my hands are in water a lot.  This hand cream has been my go to. I get really patchy and painful rashes on my hands during the winter because of them being so dry. I hate when my hands get dry, it hurts so bad.  This hand cream has been amazing for my hands.  I have one in my basket next to the couch, in the basket next to my sink, and one in my van.  That's how much I love this hand cream.

Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme
To go along with the Curel Hand Cream, I also love to carry this Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme.  I carry this in my purse to use when we are out and about and start to feel dry.  It's the perfect little size to carry in my makeup bag in my purse.  I love this stuff, it feels luxurious and I love the fact that it's in a little pot.  It's inexpensive, easy, and it works.  I have tried a lot of little hand lotions that I have gotten in my Ipsy bag or where have you, but this little pot of creme works so much better than thinner lotions and doesn't have a smell.

Honest Healing Balm
Now for when my son has a bad eczema breakout he tends to get this round, red, raised circle in the middle of his chest. To help soothe his eczema patches we LOVE the Honest Company Healing Balm.  This stuff is just great period. We also use this as diaper rash cream (different bottles for different purposes of course).  Yes its a thicker balm BUT it absorbs really nicely and doesn't make the area sticky for a long period of time.  It really helps clear up his rash and soothes the itching.  It's great, I really really love this stuff.  We use it for burns, mosquito bites, rashes. It's just excellent. I have like 4 of these for every area of my life because we love it so much.

Now I know we are going against the "norm" here but to help combat dry skin in the winter time, because our babies have such dry and sensitive skin, we only have them take baths/showers every OTHER day.  If they take showers every day their skin cracks and their hair gets brittle and it's just not pleasant for everyone.  So in the cold months, they shower/bathe every other day.

Now for my "just mommy" favorites.

BEST Lip Exfoliater
My lips also suffer from dryness during the blustery cold season.  I love to exfoliate and moisturize my lips BUT my lips are so stupid sensitive.  It drives me crazy, I can't use many other lip treatments that other ladies use.  I once tried Mary Kay's Satin Lips and within seconds of applying my lip bubbled up and became swollen.  It's such a pain.

While I haven't tried to make my own sugar scrub for my lips, I have found that I LOVE this ELF Lip Exfoliater.  It's great and it's super easy and quick to use.  No crumbling and messy bits falling over my counter or clothes, it looks like a lipstick so I just take it out whenever I feel a dry spot and I just rub it over for a minute or so then wipe it off and apply chapstick.  It's great and it's easy and its cheap...like $3 and you can find it at either Target or stock up on the ELF website.

Chapstick Total Hydration
As far as balms go, it's the same thing...my lips are so picky but I did try this new one from the Chapstick brand.  I got it in my WalMart Beauty Box and quickly fell in love.  It's a really great, non sticky, not obnoxious smelling or feeling, chapstick.  I don't like minty balms, I hate Carmex and Blistex, but this one I just really love.  And the Sweet Peach scent reminds me of our late summer Peach Festival they have in our county.  It's by far my favorite Chapstick.

Like the skin on my body, the skin on my face is also going though a dry spell.  I am finding I need extra moisture and extra exfoliation the last couple months.  All of the products I've been trying I received in beauty box/bag subscriptions.

GlamGlow PowerMud DualCleanse Treatment
For exfoliating I have been loving the GlamGlow PowerMud Dual Cleanse Treatment...I do this about 2-3 times a week and my skin has been thanking me for it.  It really exfoliates all the dead, dry skin off my face and has been helping me fight my acne breakouts.  It doesn't have uncomfortable or harsh exfoliates in it so it's not uncomfortable and doesn't make my face go crazy red from the scrubbing. I'm going to be really bummed out when I am out of my little sample size because this stuff is expensive. But I really do love what it has done for my skin.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask
Now on the nights that I exfoliate, my skin needs extra hydration beyond my daily moisturizer.  So on those nights I have been using this (also a little sample I got in the Target Beauty Box) Laneige Water Sleeping Mask.  This stuff makes my skin feel so soft and hydrated.  I LOVE IT.  What I do is exfoliate with the GlamGlow then I wash with a gentle cleanser (I don't have too but I like too do the extra step) then I use my daily moisturizer and then put this Water Sleeping Mask all over my face.  It absorbs nicely into my skin and in the morning when I rewash my face, I just feel hydrated. It's BOMB. Holy grail, I love it....it is also expensive in the full size hahaha. But its so worth it.

So that wraps up this momma's winter skin care must haves.  What about you?  What kinds of products do you like to use to get some relief from the winter blues?

Thanks so much for stopping by!

This Mom's Spring Wardrobe Essentials

My spring wardrobe is relatively simple.  I'm a busy mom to 4 kids. I like it quick, simple, and practical but still "fashionable."

At least this is my fashion.

Most days you will find me in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, but there are times I want to look a little more put together.

Old Navy, is my favorite store.

Some of my favorites for this spring...that are actually in my closet.

1. Pretty brown and yellow striped shirt..it fits great on me, typically I like my tops longer so none of my bits are hanging out.

2. Cropped Boyfriend Jeans..I like the "Dreamer" fit...it's a higher waist band and tucks me in.

3. Rockstar Super Skinny Jeans  even though I'm not skinny..I still love the fit of these.

4. Pretty Linen Blend Shirt I have it in pink..I love the color, love the fit and the style. I wore this on Easter with a lace tank top underneath. One of my favorites.

5. V-Neck Slub Knit tees  these just look comfortable and great for every day...they have long sleeve, short sleeve, half sleeve. And lots of colors. Love these!

6. A nice Lightweight Boyfriend Cardi  goes over many shirts and keeps the chill off of you without making you sweat. Love to throw this on when I'm running to the grocery store or baseball fields. Cardigans like this are definitely spring staples in my closet.

7.  These t-shirts I love the way they fit. I got them at Wal-Mart for like $4.  Lots of color options, they are the OP brand.

8.  I got this shirt from Forever 21 Plus section. It's not a favorite to wear out because it's very big on me but it's really comfortable and pairs great with leggings for a long day of spring cleaning when you just want something comfortable.  It kind of has this men's garage t-shirt feel to it and it's very comfortable.

9.  I love these booties, I got them from Forever 21. They are very comfortable and look great with those Rockstar Skinny Jeans.

10. I ordered this pair of leopard Croc sandals from Zulily.  I love Zulily and I've been wanting Croc sandals for a few years now so I took advantage of such a great deal.  I'll probably wear them out by the end of the fall.

So these are some things that are in my closet...simple and functional yet still have a bit of style.

I also have a long wishlist of things I want in my closet, but that's another post!

What are some of your spring wardrobe essentials?

Thanks For Stopping By!

My Word 2013

My word for 2013?

HEALTH

You see all my life I have never really focused on health. I care about my children's & my husband's health but I dont sorry about MY health.

At almost 28 years old I suffer from obesity, acid reflux, constant aches & pains, fatigue, and just generally I dont feel good...ever. Yes I have had 3 beautiful children all via c-section but that's no excuse for letting me health go. My eyes my teeth everything has been neglected. So my goal for the year is to focus on my health. By sticking to 2 main principles; eat clean & be active.

Its not just my physical health I am focusing on this year. My emotional, mental, and spiritual health are also important and have been neglected.

Im going to focus more on not worrying about what others think, why let them hold me back?

Im going to study my bible more.
Play with my kids more.
Go outside more.
Let stress go.
And work on my ability to forgive.

Im not a perfect person & I dont pretend to be. I have let my health go for so long to focus on everyone else around me but I can see the toll it's taking on the ones I love. Worrying about me, having to pick up my slack. Im tired of it.

Im over it.

Im over myself and my self pity.

My laziness to overcome my issues.

My fear of embarrassment.

2013 is my year to focus on Health & by focusing on the health of ME, I can definitely see how it can benefit the health of those I love.

So off I go, to make a plan....

Have a Happy New Year! I'll be back to post pictures & share my journey to better HEALTH!

Time is Flying

I can't believe that time is flying by so fast. In just a couple days my baby girl will be 3 months old and my big boy just turned 5.

Sometimes it doesn't seem fair that it just seems to slip by. I am trying to make the most of everyday with them.

My kiddos are amazing, I truly am blessed.

Here are a few pictures from my phone. I am blogging from my phone btw.

November 3in30

I want to start back up with the 3in30 goals so I have made a list for November.

Let's see how I will do!

1. Limit my time spent on my phone.
This is a BIG one for me! I have an Android phone. I currently don't have an internet connection at home BUT I can get a wireless signal to my computer from my phone. Well with a tiny baby & two rambunctious boys, it's not always easy to get on my computer. Unfortunately it is very easy to sit on my phone. I do everything on my phone. Web, email, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube...EVERYTHING...except talk haha.  I spend a huge part of my day just sitting on my phone. It started where I would watch videos or read books on the Kindle App while I was nursing and now I just do everything on it and I hardly every put it down. Even right now it is sitting right next to me.
So it's time to nip this bad habit in the butt.  I want to limit my time spent on it.  I won't shut it off because it's the only phone I have at home and Randy will need to get a hold of me BUT I need to restrict texting, twittering, FBing, YouTubeing and all other unnecessary distractions to only when my kids are sleeping. While they are awake I need to devote my time and attention exclusively to them and their lives and our home.

2. Make a new routine/schedule & STICK TO IT!!!
I can not tell you how many routines I have created that have just fallen through and for my Hayden, he NEEDS a routine. He can not function & perform well in school without a routine. We definitely could never be unschoolers, he really needs a routine. Since I haven't been able to keep a routine going well schoolwork has been a nightmare and he fights me constantly because he doesn't think it's school time. SO I really need to make one and stick to it!

3.  Read my Bible DAILY!!!
I have been doing decent with this. I started with the Good Morning Girls study which I have no problem reading the verses, but the S.O.A.P.'n I haven't stuck with. It's very easy for me to read my Bible (on my phone) while I'm nursing the baby and I have been spending time in my bible every day BUT I'm not devoting my time to actually taking in all that I'm reading.  I need to set aside time for just me and my Bible. To take notes and really put my whole head & heart into God's word.

So that are my goals for this month.  I hope to check in once a week to let you know how it goes...hopefully not from my phone (because yes there is a Blogger app LOL).

Talking to Him...

I struggle with something.

I struggle because I know what I should do & what I need to do, but I don't know how to do it.

I don't know how to talk to God...sounds weird eh?

It still feels a little awkward, talking to God.

I wasn't raised in a home that emphasized praying or giving it all to Him. Sure we were raised to fear Him. I knew there was God. I knew my mother always said if she ever walked into a church surely she'd set on fire immediately!

I never understood that.

If I could replace one thing about my childhood, it would be that I didn't KNOW God. That there was no church or Bible in our lives. That's what I wish I hadn't missed out on.

So as a girl who lost 25 years of knowing Christ as my savior, I want to know all that I can know now. I want to "do it right."  I want to teach my children and raise my children up knowing Jesus and talking to God.

But how do I teach them to talk to God, when I don't even know where to start?

When I pray, I feel nervous and get all sweaty. Like I must not be doing this right or I'm going to mess up the words.

Or maybe I still feel that guilt, that maybe (even though He loves me & has given me a clean slate) I'm still not "good enough."

I get apprehensive & scared to lead a prayer whether at the table before a meal or even in my own heart when my eyes are closed and it's just me and God. I still feel...scared.

Is that weird?

I am hoping the more I grow and the more I read my bible, the closer I will feel to Him. I want so badly to have a close personal relationship with Him, I just have to let go of my mind.  Stop letting my mind play tricks on me.

Stop over thinking and just let it flow.

Anyone else? Any other new"ish" believers have the same problem?

How do you overcome it?
