Making Your Home A Haven Week 2

I am writing this from my phone as we do not have internet service right now.

Week 1 of the challenge went ok. Besides the fact I got my candle privileges revoked when I left them burning while we werent home. It went pretty good. I usually have a candle burning in my kitchen but adding the prayer was really nice. I have been praying alot more recently.

Week 2's challenge is well a challenge. I have been working on my patience and my harshness for a long time its something i struggle with. I am a product of the environment i was raised in you could say. So in addition to cooling my temper and working on myself i will be lighting candles and praying.

I have even started a prayer journal which I am really excited about.

I hope I get my internet back soon. And you can check out the challenge on the Women Living Well blog. I would post the button but I am on my phone. :(

Making My Home A Haven Challenge Week 1

It is week 1 of the Making Your Home a Haven Fall Challenge. Here is this week's challenge: Go buy an extra large candle and light a candle everyday in your home. I will be starting mine in the morning! But you can start yours at dinner time. Do what makes sense for your family. I will be placing mine in the kitchen - the main hub of my home. Each time the candle catches your eye, say a prayer for peace in your home.

I am participating in the Making Your Home a Haven challenge.  Week 1 says to light a candle everyday and pray for peace in your home every time it catches your eye.

I've got my candle lit in the kitchen on the counter.  It's a good smelling candle too. :-)

Reading Courtney's post this morning I asked myself which home am I in? Home #1 or #2.  Realistically I am in Home #1.  I so desperately want to live in a home like #2 but it's taking a lot of will power.  I am so quickly sucked in by my computer or my phone that I neglect my home and my responsibilities.

Sure there is always a good hot meal on the table and the dishes are always done, but the rest of the house? It's pretty sad.  If I spent more time off this computer and phone I'd get a lot more done.  Yesterday I started trashing things that were cluttering up my house.  Clutter that's what it is.

There is an overload of toys, clothes, and mail in my home.  Yeah that's right...mail.  I check the mail open what I need to open and leave the rest on the desk.  There are piles of mail everywhere.  I really need to go through it.

I successfully got rid of a whole lot of toys...so many the boys can actually close their toy box now, next is clothes.  I've got a mountain to fold and put away.  We went through all the closets, dressers, and storage boxes that haven't been unpacked in...a year!!!! UGH!!!!  I definitely don't want all this clutter in the new house so out it goes.

I think my final push of motivation to get this done came yesterday morning.  We raced around the house searching for a shoe.  He had one on and couldn't find the other one...ANYWHERE!  We were late for church and Randy didn't even make it to Sunday School because he couldn't find his shoe.  Oh we still haven't found it!  I was so angry and frustrated.  Not with him but with myself...I took it out on him foolishly.  Even though I knew it wasn't his fault and that I should be the one keeping the house in order and having things ready so we don't have to rush around and be late.  I was so angry with myself my heart hurt.  I was in church crying over the state of my home.

I don't want this anymore, I don't want this kind of chaos and clutter.  I want a clean, organized home.  So off the computer for me.  I'll update on how much I get done today.

Have a blessed day!

Fall Challenge

Starting October 4th, I am going to partcipate in the Making Your Home a Haven Fall 2010 Challenge that Courtney from Womenlivingwell.org is hosting.

I'm excited about this. Right now I am struggling with what my mind knows are my responsibilities and the fact that I have been really really lazy.  I don't know what is going on right now but I am just not wanting to do much of anything. Not only is my house a mess but the general atmosphere and attitude in my home has shifted.  Granted we are moving in a couple months but I still feel like my house should feel like home while we are living here.

If you are interested in participating with me you can check out her blog.  She even has a nice video there of her explaining the challenge. She's so sweet! I'm learning a lot from her posts and her website.

Thanks for stopping by!

Smells So Yummy...

These are the candles I buy:

They are like $6 at the Wal-Mart and they smell so good! They aren't Yankee Candle or Celebrating Home but they are better I think.  My favorite scents are the seasonal ones they have out right now. The pumpkin and the cranberry frost...yummy. My pumpkin one has been burning all day long and my house smells like fall. I even have the windows open and I can still smell it.

I really LOVE these Febreeze candles. I suggest everyone try them. You won't be disappointed.

Plus they come in little glass jars and when they're done you can wash them out and use the little jar for something. I have some I use as makeup brush holders and even when I make little individual desserts I use these jars...they're adorable.

I'm ready to bake something now..my candle is making me hungry.

Thanks for stopping by!

Updates

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been around much lately.  Been really busy with pre-school and church and then I was in the hospital for almost a week. Blah it's been a mess!  Anyway I'm working on cleaning all week. My house has gotten out of control and we are going to be moving in a couple months and I'm going through a HUGE clean out of my home. We're having a yard sale this coming Saturday and whatever doesn't get sold is going to Goodwill just as long as it's out of my house lol.  We really have too much stuff!

We are adding 2 new additions to our family also! I'm so excited. We are getting a pony & a puppy! Since we are moving into a smaller house but on a 120 acre farm we'll have plenty of room for animals and I'm super excited.  The pony will be for Hayden he will be 4 in November and I figure this will be a great early birthday present for him. He's going to be so excited!  He's a horse fanatic like his mama!

I wish I could say I'll be decorating for the fall but we really don't have the money for fancy decorations and with us moving soon it'll just be more stuff to pack.  I'm definitely hoping to be decorating the new house for the winter and Christmas! Going to be going to a huge craft show in Pennsylvania also after Thanksgiving so that will get me lots of good decorations!

I have some recipes that I came up with and when I make again I will be taking pictures and posting them here. They were a trial the first go around so the next time I'll post them as they were for sure really very yummy!

Well that's it for now! I promise I'll be posting more often just been really busy but things are slowing down.

Thanks for stopping by!
